SEPTEMBER 27th

Dear Diary,

When I often feel like giving up, I think of my grandmom and how she’s been there for me from the very start. She’s the person who’ll smile at my little wins even if I don’t think they are “wins” enough and tell me that “it’s not bad”. So when I see her enthusiasm when I do the littlest of things, it gives me the motivation and determination to make it despite all odds and despite the fact that I sometimes say to myself “à quoi bon?”

Yesterday, I told a girl that I am pessimistic and while she tried to convince me that it’s not a good thing, I made her understand that it’s not a bad thing. Because what kills people is their excessive enthusiasm. As a pessimist, I don’t hope for good things but when or if they come, I am happy and appreciate them. And if they don’t come, I am indifferent because I didn’t expect anything in the first place.

Isn’t it strange that almost every person will never understand what you’re going through? It’s because they are not in the same environment and circumstances that you are in and so, they don’t feel what you’re feeling. Some might say “I know what you’re going through” but they’d be lying to you and to themselves because even if you went through or are going through the same thing, the odds can never and will never be the same.

We don’t have the same problems. Some people think that because we live in the same world, we have the same problems. One person is searching for a job, while another one is searching for love, etc. I think we should stop trying to understand people’s pains, griefs, happiness, etc. We should understand rather, that they are feeling something and that it’s okay for us not to comprehend it fully but still support them fully.

Dear Diary, keep my thoughts as secret as news can be…
